Ready to resign if BJD’s allegations on poll fund are proved: Union minister Jual Oram

Union minister and BJP leader Jual Oram on Sunday said he is ready to resign if allegations of discrepancies in his poll expenses affidavit, levelled by the ruling BJD in Odisha, are found true.

“The charges levelled by the BJD are false and politically motivated. There is no mismatch in my poll expense figures. I am prepared to face any probe. If the allegations are found true, I will step down as a minister,” he said.

“The allegation against me is false, fabricated and politically motivated. I challenge them (BJD) to take the matter to the court,” Oram said.

The BJD has also said it will move the EC and court seeking action against Oram.

The BJD’s attack on Oram came after the BJP sought Odisha governor SC Jamir’s intervention into alleged misuse of official machinery by the Odisha government to defend the poll expenditure case against the chief minister, who is also the BJD president.

BJP candidate from Hinjili, Devadanda Mahapatra, who was defeated by Patnaik, has moved the Orissa High Court alleging that there were discrepancies in Patnaik’s election expenditure document submitted to the EC. Dedicated Server Argentina

The high court is scheduled to hear the case on Monday.

Stepping up attack on the chief minister, BJP Odisha unit vice president Sameer Mohanty accused the BJD of denigrating the constitutional mechanism in a desperate bid to save Naveen Patnaik and his image.

BJP inconvenience for DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu



CHENNAI: After a large portion of a time of mastery by Dravidian parties — DMK and AIADMK—in Tamil Nadu that kept national gatherings under control, high pitched voices of anxiety now rise expressing that the BJP and BJP-drove focal government is attempting to control the result of things unfurling in the state.

The RK Nagar seat was cleared after the passing of previous boss pastor J Jayalalithaa. The Election Commission late on Sunday night contradicted the April 12 bypoll, saying the discretionary procedure has been "genuinely vitiated" by gatherings through utilization of cash power.

An EC articulation had stated, "The Commission is completely fulfilled that the current constituent process...in Tamil Nadu has been truly vitiated by virtue of unlawful exercises of the hopefuls and political gatherings and their specialists by influencing the balloters and unlawfully initiating them by offering cash and different endowments of consumable things to charm them to support them."
